Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.

  • The submission has not been previously published or submitted for consideration by any other journal ( or an explanation for this has been provided in the Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, RTF or WordPerfect file format.
  • Whenever possible, URL addresses should be provided for references, in accordance with APA standards.
  • The text is single spaced; with 12 point font size; in Arial or Times New Roman font; and all illustrations, figures and tables are placed in the appropriate places in the text, rather than at the end of the document.
  • The text adheres to the style and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Editorial Guidelines, which appear in About the Journal

Author Guidelines

Articles submitted for publication must be written in Spanish or English, be original and unpublished, and that they have not been submitted to other media for the same purpose. Under exceptional circumstances, and at the discretion of the Scientific Council and the Editorial Board, articles, papers or conference papers from other publications may be accepted based on their relevance. In the latter case, the details of the previous publication must be expressly indicated, and the author shall release ULACIT from any responsibility towards third parties.

The author assigns the rights of publication or copy of his/her articles with the effects and scopes that appear in the part of the journal dedicated to the assignment of patrimonial and other rights. To this end, he/she must sign the corresponding document of assignment of rights, which can be found on the magazine's web page.

The contents and opinions that may be expressed in each article are the exclusive responsibility of the author, not of the journal, nor of its Direction, editor, Scientific Board, Editorial Board, nor of the Universidad Latinoamericana de Ciencia y Tecnología.

The selection of the articles to be published is under the jurisdiction of the Editorial Board of the journal and the document submitted for its consideration must comply with the following requirements:

  • 2.54 cm margins at the top, bottom, right and left margins.
    Justified text
  • Arial or Times New Roman font, size 12.
  • Paragraphs without indentation
  • Single spacing, with one space between paragraphs.
  • APA format, last edition, for referencing, with obligatory characteristics.

Papers should begin with the title of the article, in Spanish and English, name and surname(s) of the author(s), the citation of the article in APA format, with the author(s) personal details in the first footnote: institutional affiliation, city of residence, academic degrees, position, ORCID number and e-mail. The footnote should also state whether the work was carried out within the framework of a research project or if it is the result of another institutionally funded scientific activity, and the dates of receipt and acceptance of the paper(s).

Next, the text should include the summary and abstract with a maximum length of 250 words in a single paragraph. Five to six key terms and keywords should be used to identify the papers. Then, the body of the paper should begin in accordance with the general rules of a scientific/academic article.

References should be included at the end of the paper, according to the standards established by the latest edition of the APA. The notes should be numbered at the foot of the page. If such notes include bibliographical references, they should also be cited according to the standards established by the APA for these cases.

If not otherwise specified in the particular format criteria of the journal, tables and figures should follow the criteria of the latest edition of the APA and be numbered sequentially and add the source of the data. These annexes should be in XML format for tables and JPG for figures.

The articles will be sent for philological review, and authors must accept the changes recommended by the professional commissioned by ULACIT.

The rejection of papers or any dispute about them will be resolved by the Scientific Council and the Editorial Board, with no possibility of complaint against the decision of said body.

The submission of articles or research implies the acceptance of the above rules and the provisions of the assignment of rights document, once the work has been accepted for insertion in the journal.
