Abstract

In dentistry there are currently multiple options to treatment anterior open bites, however, the correction of this malocclusion represents a challenge for orthodontists. The objective of this article is to determine if the use of mini implants as skeletal anchoring is effective and predictable as a treatment for the correction of anterior open bites. A literature review was performed with the published data in the Pubmed database about the treatment of anterior open bite, taking as a variable the use of skeletal anchors such as mini implants. The use of mini implants as a corrective method for anterior open bites resulted to be effective, however, there is a need for a standardized treatment protocol, it is also necessary to analyze each case in a personalized manner and treated according to its specific needs.
